Childcare/Loyalty Bonus/Vaccinations/Mountain Updates/Housing

from Christine Baker

Hi Mountain Sports School,

There is new snow on the mountain today! For those of you not in the area we have had a nice reprieve from the heat and the smoke – the biking and hiking trails are getting good moisture and will be fun to ride and hike.

Thank you for taking the time to read these emails. If you are busy, remember we will have them posted for you and you’ll be able to catch up closer to the season. We value your time and understand some of you would rather stay focused on summer, and that others are looking to winter and wanting to be in the loop. Hopefully, this now or later format works for everyone.

Childcare

We are working on a childcare plan for this winter. If you are interested in giving input, please send me an email and one of us will reach out to you. If you are interested in Morningstar Learning Center:

Morningstar Learning Center currently has openings for the Infant Center and PreK programs beginning September 1st.  If you or anyone is interested, please contact Laura at laura@morningstarlearningcenter.com.  I would imagine these will go fast and they have provided us advance notice of these openings.

Loyalty Bonus

We are excited to introduce the new Service and Loyalty (SAL) Bonus Program for all hourly and qualifying salaried team members!  Starting Winter 2021/22, an end-of-season payout potentially equaling 5% of the team member’s gross wages will be made based on achievement of two goals.  Criteria and targets will be reviewed at the beginning of each season and progress toward the goals will be updated regularly throughout the season.

1.       SERVICE GOAL (50% of potential bonus) – Achieve the targeted level of service and guest satisfaction in assigned outlet/store/division/resort. This is measured by the Overall Satisfaction score or Net Promoter Score (NPS) earned for the season in the guest survey.

2.       LOYALTY GOAL (50% of potential bonus) – Remain actively employed by the resort/store/company through the end of the season.

Qualifications for Bonus Payout

·         Team member must work through the end of the season or as defined in the employment agreement (loyalty goal) signed at the time of hire.

·         If the loyalty goal is not achieved, 100% of the SAL bonus is forfeited.

·         If team member does not reach the service goal yet works to/through the end of season 50% of the bonus will be paid.

Additional Details

·         Earning potential is 5% of team member’s season-long gross earnings--including commissions and gratuities.

·         Team member’s service goal is based on the department’s/division’s guest satisfaction target.

·         Bonuses are based on seasonal criteria and offered two times each year – Winter + Summer/Fall.

A team member’s commitment to work a full season is greatly valued and we are pleased to be rewarding such loyalty.  Every team member has direct or indirect responsibility for guest satisfaction and offering a bonus for the service and experiences we provide is intended to further align teams/departments/stores with our service goals and keep the critical importance of guest satisfaction top-of-mind at all times.

Vaccinations

At this time, COVID vaccinations are required for anyone living in BSR employee housing. This policy will continue through the winter. If you are planning to live in employee housing, plan to show up fully vaccinated.  All team members are highly encouraged to be vaccinated. Here is our current policy:

Pay for missed shifts is contingent upon vaccination verification card

Close Contact Fully Vaccinated:

·         Do not have to quarantine

·         Must wear a mask while indoors and outdoors when around people for 10 days or once negative test results (test 5-8 days post contact)

Positive Test Fully Vaccinated:

·         Isolate

Close Contact No Vaccine:

·         Quarantine

Positive Test No Vaccine:

·         Isolate

Vaccination is highly encouraged for all team members. For the winter, certain benefits may be tied to vaccination status. It is possible that vaccinations would be required. I will do my best to keep you updated, so you can make your choices accordingly.

Mountain Updates

·         Crane is coming to start work on Swift6 bottom terminal

·         Helicopter is scheduled to be here after Labor Day

·         Glading projects:

o    Machine work is complete at Moonlight

o    Hand crew has been working on Shedhorn

o    Will begin on Andesite when lifts close for mountain biking

·         Pacifier: Removing trees this year, but doing most of the grading and fill work next year

·         Snowmaking – If you are interested in working Snowmaking prior to starting up as an instructor, let us know. The snowmaking team is interested in having instructors join.

Housing

The resort will have 667 BSR owned team member housing beds in Big Sky this winter. In addition, the F&B team has secured manager housing condos. We are looking to do the same to help our career professional instructors, who are having a hard time securing housing in the community. We are early in the process, and if you have any thoughts on this project, we would like to hear them. This may not come to fruition for this winter season, but if we can make it happen, we will! Stay tuned for more info as it comes. We know housing continues to be a big challenge in the community and are looking to help.

If you have questions that haven’t been addressed, please let me know. We want to share the information that you want to hear. Ask the questions, and we will do our best to get you answers in a timely fashion.

Thanks again for taking the time to read and I look forward to seeing you this winter.
