Christine Baker
  • VP of Mountain Sports

    Christine started skiing in Big Sky with her family in 1981. She fell in love with the mountain, the town, the people, the skiing, and everything that came with it. In 1982 (at age 6), she told her parents she was going to stay and she'd see them next year. "What are you going to do?" her parents asked. "Be a ski instructor," she replied. It didn't happen thtat year, but eventually it did.

Matt Ruuhela
  • Assistant Director

    Matt was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. He learned how to ski on Mt. Hood and Mt. Bachelor, frequently riding the ski bus up from Portland after school for night skiing. He started instructing at Mt. Bachelor in 2004 and then moved to Big Sky in 2005. At Big Sky, Matt has been working in Mountain Sports since he began here. He moved into supervising in 2010 as the Local's Program Supervisor, then Children's Program Supervisor in 2013, and Children's Program Manager in 2019. he has a Level III in both Alpine and Telemark and is active in PSIA as the current NRM Telemark Chair. He was also a former member of the Board of Directors for the division. The only thing that he might like as much or more than skiing is fly fishing. In the summer, he spends his time on the local rivers as a fly-fishing guide with Wild Trout Outfitters. He lives in Big Sky with his wife, Claire, and their two sons Connor and Brennan.

  • Sales Manager

    Christy was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois. She has always loved the outdoors and sports, and it was during a ski lesson in the U.P. of Michigan that she met her husband, Jim, and yes, he was her instructor! Christy and her family first visited Montana in 2009 and fell in love with everything Montana. Christy began working for Big Sky in the spring of 2013, and the family moved to Bozeman at Christmas 2014. Jim and Christy have two children, Dennis and Hailey, and recently have welcomed their spouses, Jenna and Zach. Last September, she also welcomed her first grandbaby, Colter.

 
  • Basecamp Maintenance

    Chris was raised on a farm outside the small town of Conrad, Montana where his grandfather built a homestead. After high school he went to MSU-Bozeman, back in ’96, studying MET. In 1999, Chris started teaching skiing and snowboarding at Showdown Ski Area, MT. He received his PSIA I, AASI I & II his first season then attained his AASI III his second season. He then moved to Bozeman and started working for Big Sky Resort. In addition, he has attained freestyle and children’s specialist and telemark downhill credentials. He is continuing his education and working on attaining additional Alpine certs. He is currently Pro Staff for Snowboard, Children’s, and Freestyle for AASI/PSIA-NRM as well as being the Snowboard Program Manager at Big Sky for the last 15 years. He has a wife of 12 years, Hallie, and son, Louis, just turned 5. He enjoys playing with his son and two dogs, watching movies and family friendly YouTube channels, shooting targets, working on his Subaru’s and the only sport he follows is F1 racing. And of course, He loves snowboarding and skiing!!!

A.J. Oliver
  • Fleet Manager

    A.J. has taught for the adult program the last 6 seasons. Originally from Salt Lake City, he moved to Big Sky full-time after attending Rocky Mountain College. A.J. is a member of the training staff at Big Sky and the NRM Education team. He likes fishing and mountain biking in his free time.

Lucia Damberg
  • Business Manger

    Lucia Damberg is from Washburn, a small town in northern Wisconsin. She first learn to ski at Mt. Ashwabay, which boasts an impressive 317ft of vert. After a short hiatus of snowboarding Lucia switched back to skiing and started focusing on racing. She raced USSA for 5 years as well as Wisconsin High School Racing. Lucia studied Sustainability and Society at Willamette University in Salem, OR. After graduating she didn’t want a “Big Girl Job” so she followed her sister Hannah to work in the Mountain Sports Office in Big Sky. Now it’s a “Big Girl Job” here!

 
  • Employee Experience Coordinator

    Megan was born and raised in West Michigan in a small town called Grand Haven, which sits right on the shores of Lake Michigan. Megan attended a small liberal arts college in Holland, MI called Hope College where she majored in Psychology and Leadership, focusing on Industrial/Organizational psychology. In her free time, Megan enjoys being around her family and friends, travelling, reading, listening to music, finding the next best TV show/movie, and skiing.
