Lessons

Child Drop Off and Pick up Procedures

  • When greeting parents and children engage with them to start building trust.

  • Confirm with parents the lesson finish time and location.

  • Exchange or confirm pertinent contact information.

  • Be aware of any allergies and/or health concerns.

  • Make note of any special pick-up concerns or arrangements.

  • At the end of the lesson, provide a wrap-up that provides value for both students and parents.

  • When checking out on ProCard you are confirming that you have released your students with an authorized guardian and updated your student pro-verified levels.

 Group Lessons

  • Each instructor will teach group lessons as assigned and will continue with the same students in successive lessons whenever possible.

  • Instructors will receive an assignment to a specific level or group of levels.

  • Every effort will be made to see that lessons are distributed in a fair manner. Some criteria for lesson assignments include guest’s requests and needs, as well as the instructor’s ability and priority ranking.

Assigned Private Lessons

  • If not requested for private lessons, instructors may receive private lesson assignments.

  • Assignments will be based on established priority system combined with guest’s requests and needs, as well as the instructor’s ability.

  • If a series of private lessons is purchased at once by a guest without requesting a particular instructor, the subsequent lessons will be considered a request after the first lesson.

    • For assigned private lessons, there is the option to complete a “Confirm to Request”, therefore making the first day of a lesson request pay. Lesson date/time, meeting location, correct waiver, and correct lift access need to be confirmed with the guest. This option is available until 7pm the night prior to the lesson. Subject to Manager approval.

Request Private Lessons

  • Instructor availability for private request lessons will be subject to an instructor’s availability, prior lesson commitments and approval by the supervisor.

  • Whenever possible, you will receive a private if a guest requests you specifically.

  • Referrals: An instructor may recommend another instructor. Managers are happy to help with referrals and including them in the process may help with the guest experience. The private lesson will become a request with the new instructor during the second lesson.

Lesson Tickets

  • RFID media (Skycard) will contain guest lift access and group lesson products. Please make sure that all guests have an RFID card on them.  If they have an RFID card from another resort please see your supervisor for a blocking puch.  Otherwise they will not be able to pass through the gates.

  • Prior to departing meeting area, confirm that your guest has the correct media for lift access and limited access terrain.

Teaching Policy

  • Our teaching is based on the simple philosophy of Safety, Fun, and Learning.

  • Know the Responsibility Code and make safety for you and your students a primary concern. Refer to The Code in lessons – it will help guests, even the youngest ones, successfully navigate the mountain even when they aren’t in our care.

  • Show pride in your professionalism:

    • Start on time.

    • Have a neat and friendly appearance.

    • Provide a debrief at the end of the lesson.

  • Structure lessons to be guest centered:

    • Explain lesson format.

    • Collaborate on goals and expectations.

    • Keep lessons simple, fun and safe.

    • Offer specific exercises and tasks to improve.

    • Give a pleasant farewell and invite guests to return.

  • Be familiar with the Technical Manual appropriate to your discipline and the Teaching Snowsports Manual. We will have most PSIA/AASI manuals available for purchase, at a discounted rate, through our office sales team.
